I listen to quite a few science podcasts and this one is by far the most boring one. The presentation of each topic is boring. I want more authentic narration, not the ridiculously animated NPR-Planet Money style of narration

So for some reason, the negative feedback in my review got edited out. So I’m rewriting it with as one paragraph so it’ll be harder to censor. This podcast is generally good, but could do without the new segments on gender identity. It belongs to the realm of the humanities and opinion. I listen...Read full review »

So easy to follow, awesome topics

Increasingly usurped by blatantly non-scientific “social” studies reports that are neither scientific nor even objective. The public’s belief in science and the scientific method is already at an all-time low and listening to what this podcast has become, that’s quite understandable.

Thanks for the show all! I love having a science news podcast to learn about stuff I hadn’t really thought about I wish more time was spent on the interviews-they are great topics! For example the latest episode about the cartels, I’d rather have 11 more minutes (or more!) of that interview than...Read full review »

I really like the topics that are covered on this podcast, but really dislike the host. She sounds really arrogant, which is unattractive, as well as a surprise, as people that like science tend to be curious and modest.

The interviews with scientists are usually interesting. I wish more time was spent on going into the science of the articles discussed. I also wish a greater number of fields of science were covered; sometimes it feels like all that’s covered is space/astronomy topics.

In case the main topic does not interest me.

I agree-3 topics are too many Better to concentrate on only one

Why can’t we have a podcast that gives us hard science news without having to pepper every show with contemporary social science. It just seems like unnecessary and unwanted virtue signalling.

I have changed my review from 5 to 2 stars because of two unfortunate changes. Rather than interviewing the authors of original papers, the host frequently just interviews another Science reporter. This produces a “scripted” effect and the enthusiasm of the real scientist-authors is missing. The...Read full review »

It might be worthwhile to focus on just one topic per episode. Sometimes I find myself interested in only 1 out of three of the topics discussed and therefore don’t listen to the episode

Too many articles lately not to do with science as such but with people claimed to be disadvantaged in or by the scientific community, largely by reason of race. All very well but it’s not about science. I regrettably ended my subscription today after listening to an otherwise interesting piece...Read full review »

The problem with thalidomide is that there are two forms, left and right chirality and one form is fine and therapeutic and the other is mutagenic. When mass production began there was little understanding of the difference. Not describing this difference when discussing this drug is irresponsible.

Sarah Crespi is one of my favorite interviewers and science communicators. She’s beyond amazing. When she interviews researchers, her questions are well-crafted and insightful, and she asks terrific follow-up questions. Any time I feel a little confused by an interviewee’s explanation, she asks...Read full review »

In a toxic ocean of vocal fry and uptalk Sarah Crespi is a beautiful tropical island to save us all. It is so refreshing to listen to a science podcast that isn’t singularly focused on COVID-19 and climate change. Sarahs interviews are weaved flawlessly with insightful questions and innocent...Read full review »

Watered down pop science, overly political

Another “popular science” podcast that entertains by dumbing down, oversimplifying, and flat out ignoring facts that contradict a chosen narrative. Critical (skeptical) thinking is fundamental to science but is utterly lacking in these stories.

I just listened to the Dec 11th episode. After 10min of info came straight 2.5min of ads! I was biking and didn’t want to stop to fast forward. Those were painful 2.5min! I won’t listen to this podcast again when my hands are busy.

A few good episodes, then nothing but political brainwashing and political bashing. I can’t rate it anymore. I like science because it is unbiased and refreshes my brain, this podcast puts a spin on every subject I just unsubscribed. Later

主要给专业人士提供专业咨询的,面对的听众是science 读者。不是编排散的问题,也不存在什么学不学东西的事儿。如感兴趣,从科普类入门较好。循序渐进,不必强求。

I want to like this podcast but it has all the personality of a beige wall, slowly drying. I find approximately 1 in 3 pieces very informative and fascinating. However, Science has succumbed to political correctness, putting a progressive spin on many stories by injecting opinions on top of the facts. Unfortunate.
