Perfect- By far the best Science podcast available
This is by far the best science podcast available; which isn't too suprising considering it's by Scientific American. Steve Mirsky is a brilliant host and while there's enough in depth discussions and science terminology, topics are always discussed with enough clarity for the general audience. Once a month there's an episode covering primarily the main topics in the new issue of Sci Am, usually through an interview with Editor in Cheif John Rennie (these discussions are always great) and one of the greatest things is how up to date and quick these podcasts are to discuss and inform about new issues- not simply new sicentific theories, but things in relation to science which affects everyone. For instance, around the day after Senator Obama won the election, there was an episode covering his potential policies in relation to science (something I was actually going to look into myself before seeing this episode). I could go on for ages about how great this podcast is, though anyone considering it should simply download/subscribe and see for themself. If any episode doesn't interest you you can always look through the archive. I personally can't think of anything wrong with the structure at all, as said Mirsky's a great host, the interviews/discussions are never dull whatsoever (something you'll easily find in other podcasts [esp. science ones- regardless how much of a passion you have for it]), probably the only thing is that one can sometimes find a topic they aren't interested in. If you're loking for a science related podcast, this is definitely the one to subscribe to.Read full review »

I used to read Scientific American magazine. I stop when it became too political. I had hoped the podcast would be different, but it wasn't. I guess when 99% of faculty at our colleges and universities are far left of center it can't helped.Read full review »
