I’m sure it can’t be easy to get these writers on your show, but each is so insightful and I love hearing the thought process of these successful writers. Appreciate both the respectful, but not fawning, interviewing and the generosity in sharing their process. I just wish there were more…

Al’s questions are always very thoughtful and draw out insightful answers from his guests. I find I have to stop the episodes every few minutes because there are SO MANY good ideas I need to joy down. Brilliant show, brilliant guests. Also: totally professional production. The best! Bravo.

I’m really enjoying these interviews and am glad I found this podcast. Only thing is I have a really hard time with the volume. I have my speaker (that I listen to other interview pods on without issue) maxed out, and I still really struggle to catch a lot of what is said. Please adjust mixing...Read full review »

Common man, You're distorting the narrative by characterizing every male character as a preditor. Its beyond obvious youre pushing your ideals on listeners and sometimes testing the limits with the writers you interview. Please give it a rest. Its much more unsafe being a man. Unparalleled insight from leading writing talent in the industry. But for me the star of the show is Al, who is just the most incredible interviewer, demonstrating his passion for the art of writing through intelligent, knowledgable and well researched questions, that engage the writers quite...Read full review »

The Adam McKay episode might be one of the most important and poignant podcasts on Film I’ve listened to this year. The subject matter, the why of making movies and the value of making work that is in dialogue with current times. Ace questions, beautiful, meaningful answers.

As a college student who is an aspiring screenwriter it is amazing to hear these stories and be inspired by industry professionals. It’s also great to be exposed to amazing tools to use as a screenwriter who is still getting their feet wet in the industry. Script Apart has been my daily listen...Read full review »

5/5 stars for the insanely cool content but I’m begging the creator to read this: I find it super difficult to listen when you are talking because your mic pics up everything. I can hear ever mouth sound, like how moist your mouth is and it’s MADDENING like I can hear the moistness of your lips...Read full review »

This is by far the most inspiring screenwriting podcast I have ever listened to (and I’ve tried everything I could find). The conversations are so informative, and the questions clearly come from someone who know their stuff! There’s so much depth and countless gems in the interviews I couldn’t...Read full review »

Have listened to lots of podcasts about writing and this is the best by a long, long way. Al’s questions and forensic interest in the script process reveals so much about the process. I have no ambitions to write but find Al’s approach a real must-listen experience. PS Can you “do” Juno.

Well done Al. You dive deeper than Tom Daley and unpick the tangle of screenwriting so we can learn from other writers’ experience, where they were, what they were thinking, what was going on around them, and how they got the story from script to screen. Writing can be a solitary calling and you...Read full review »

Loved the Dead Poet’s Society episode. The writer is so humble. This movie changed my life for the better. I mean I’m literally a different person than I would have been had I not seen the movie at 15. Much Love!

“Needless to say, there won’t be a Script Apart episode on CRASH anytime soon. (snicker)” –Al Horner. What were you thinking? Wow. Needless to say… you weren’t. Clean this up, Al. Awesome job scoring points with your guest, whose film lost to Crash at the Oscars. But classless job leaving it in...Read full review »

I’m a ‘young’ professional screenwriter and the concept of going back to the origin storytelling of a film script is really useful to understand the intellectual journey of the writer and also the pitching, production and filming process on a specific project.

Wonderful stuff, been learning so much about the conception of some of my favourite movies, and how those concepts change during the course of production and even post-production (e.g. an f-bomb tempered in ’10 Things I Hate About You’!) The secret to the success of Script Apart is that Al Horner really knows his stuff. The Fighting With My Family episode was such an interesting listen having loved the film, diving back into the thought process of writer Stephen Merchant. Recommended.

Listened to the first episode purely because of Joe Cornish and being a long standing Adam & Joe fan.
