1001 Useful Answers to Pressing Questions (plus a Few Dumb Ones)
If you've ever commented online about a tv show or a movie, you should be listening to this podcast, which manages to be a weekly masterclass in creating great entertainment without getting too into the sausage-making. It doesn't matter if you respect August & Mazin's work (although you should -- for reasons that become apparent once you start listening). These guys know what they're talking about, and although they're too busy to teach a weekly workshop, this hour-long podcast manages to be as informative as any screenwriting class (and I say that as someone with a degree from a well-respected program.) Plus they're funny, honest, and cover topics addressing the interests of everyone from the newbie (how do I sell a pilot?) to the hard-core professional (when do I need to create a loan-out?). In a perfect world, I would love it if there were a TV-writers' podcast with a similar level of expertise, humor and honesty, but I suspect that one of the reasons Scriptnotes is so great is that, as feature screenwriters, August and Mazin have both a measure of job security and scheduling freedom unheard of on the TV side. Listen, if you want to be a screenwriter, a director, a producer, or just make movies in general, you have to subscribe to this podcast. Scripnotes describes how the business, inspiration, motivation and overall thought process that goes into the most crucial first stage of any film or TV show.

I don't know many working writers, so hearing John and Craig talk about these issues helps me compare/contrast my own opinions on screenwriting concerns and issues.
