Minscape is the podcast we want and need!
The advent of social media has allowed many millions of people the chance at communicating their ideas to the rest of the world. While a great achievement for free speech and the sharing of ideas, it has also resulted in the ability for any crackpot to spew their nonsense to a captive audience. Often times these crackpots appear to be experts, but are actually wolves in sheep's clothing. This isn't anything new or the fault of social media. In fact Carl Sagan said over 20 years ago in his book Demon Haunted World, >> We've arranged a global civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces. << Luckily for us, there are a few candles of intellectual light that can help us illuminate our journey to better understand the world around us. One such light that I've recently come to admire is Sean M. Carroll, an astrophysicist, professor at Cal Tech, and public intellectual. He recently started a podcast called Mindscape, which in his words involves "conversations about important ideas with the world's leading thinkers. Science, society, philosophy, culture, the arts." So far his podcast has covered cognitive biases, quantum mechanics, sexuality, humanism, theology, networks, scaling, poker, Fermi Paradox, politics, and genetics. The podcast is checking off every box: interesting topics, diverse range of guests, tough questions, scientific rigor, humbleness, and last but not least entertaining. If you're on the look out for some quality intellectual content that's also entertaining, I highly recommend you listen to Mindscape.Read full review »

Dr. Carroll is great. The conversations he has with his interesting guests makes it a must listen.

Would love to see you interview David Chalmers; a fellow naturalist but one you perhaps disagree with on some interesting issues.

It’s crazy that every single sentence that comes out if this man is interesting. We are very fortunate to have such a brilliant physist that is able and willing to put in the time to communicate with the average joe.
