The Facts that no one talks about
That this girl was likely radicalised to an extent by her family mainly her father but supported by her mother. We can have cultural differences but living in the West means adopting Western values such as freedom for women to speak out, to learn and develop and to take jobs etc. There is this blame culture being portrayed in these podcasts as if it was the police or the governments fault. I grew up as a Catholic in Scotland during the 70s and 80s my dad and his family Irish Catholic my mum and hers Protestant. I sympathised with the IRA and the cause I even bought and played rebel songs to show support but I didn’t join the IRA and become a terrorist. I done the opposite and joined the Army at 16 to try and make a difference from the inside. At 14 years old you know the difference between right and wrong. Your parents guide you and when my parents heard rebel music in my room it was immediately turned off and I was punished. The truth of the matter is that this girl felt she wanted to the join the cause and was supported in that view and belief by her family and some within her community. She has made her choice and the punishment that comes with it! I think to be fair there should be also some punishment laid at the parents door.

The way the media covered this story in the past is disgusting and probably contributed to the decision to strip her citizenship. Although I’d like to know more about how it’s legal to leave her stateless.

I found the series interesting however the question ‘why’ wasn’t looked at in any depth. It seems strange that they were comfortable to suggest that their school could be where they had been radicalised but not a single mention of any local mosque or religious meeting place? Its hard to believe...Read full review »
