“I found the series interesting however the question ‘why’ wasn’t looked at in any depth. It seems strange that they were comfortable to suggest that their school could be where they had been radicalised but not a single mention of any local mosque or religious meeting place? Its hard to believe that four girls living in the area became intensely religious and made these choices purely from the Internet.
Secondly, the girls only wanted to return home once it became apparent that their ISIS was collapsing, they were not interested in being British when they believed it might be successful. It is absurd to suggest that these girls gave up everything they have just to be housewives in a war torn dangerous country.
Yes they were under age. However, in Islamic countries they would be considered adult and ready to marry and begin having children. I think there could have been a more balanced discussion and include the uncomfortable truths behind religious communities rather than just seeking to blame the Western influences involved such as police, the school and the media.”
