Please mix the audio better. Even if everyone is remote, it shouldn’t sound like it. PLEASE but a little more towards audio

Heck yeah! Couldn’t believe when the show was over. So glad it’s been resurrected. Excited about the new format. I’ve listened to every episode at least three times and still find interesting new things to think about. Can’t wait to keep learning the meaning of movies!

Reconsidered my initial opinion and decided to cut to the chase… aside from one or two quibbles I indulged in before, it’s time to edit the earlier review and simply state that this is a well thought-out film podcast. It’s certainly in the top 5% of the many others out there. Thanks for your...Read full review »

Late to the party but the fare was still fresh and enjoyable… but for the presence of Austin’s self-aggrandizing punditry. He wields his seemingly junior college level education with scant regard for the average listener as well as his co-hosts as if he’s desperate to record his voice and small...Read full review »

I’m disappointed this podcast was canceled. Such great perspectives with fun hosts. There’s nothing quite like it.

Too bad it's over. All I can say is listen to my other favorite podcast "Community News with Paul and Sasha" to fill the time and make you laugh.Read full review »

I have heard several episodes and the best ones are the show where there is some disagreement between the reviewers. The team sounds well read but usually fail to temper their gushing for their favorite movies. These shows are too full of superlatives and short on meaning.

Best movie podcast out there.

I can’t believe this show is over. A real misstep for the big bosses. I’ve listened to every episode at least three times and still find interesting new things to think about. I’ll never know the meaning of so many movies. Tragic.

To paraphrase the final episode: a movie is great when it accomplishes what it sets out to do. What I would then ask is, “what is a piece of media that transcends what it set out to do?” I started listening to this podcast at that sweet spot in college, when you’re at the intersection of...Read full review »

This podcast used to be my favourite as it brought my two favourite things together - movies and philosophy….this all went downhill once the self-centred pretentious being once a guest with the worst sounding mic became a host. We do not care for the rants we do not care for the whole synapses...Read full review »

I just find this show then they end it? Boom three stars, despite it being amazing
Mattd656 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/01/22
They all use so many words to say very little and be very vague about their criticism. The worst kind of philosophy bros.

Been a listener for some years now, admittedly y’all (Austin) got me into Lacan psychoanalysis and would love if y’all could discuss Titane (2021)

You guys should do a podcast swap! SMTM crew does an episode of Culture Binge, Culture Binge does an episode of SMTM.

I love these guys and their takes are always really interesting to listen to and have taught me a lot about philosophy and critical thinking in a very entertaining way. The only podcast I’ll go back to and re-listen months later to try and get more out of it, almost like the movies themselves!

A Brian Di Palma film “Keri” starring Jared Bauer, Keri Smith & Jordan Peterson. A strange young woman’s lurch to the Alt Right culminates in 2 bizarre podcasts with media mogul hiding in Finland.

Finally watched Eyes Wide Shut and was left knowing there was a lot of symbolism & themes that I didn’t pick up on. Luckily, I found Wisecrack on YouTube. Mind blown! 🤯 And then I needed more of a deep dive. Enter this podcast. Massive fan! 👏 Spent much of the weekend watching their videos...Read full review »

It’s funny to hear how these guys complain and trash movies showing no interest or background info of blockbusters, beloved movies or even indies. Is it so hard for a critic to read a book where the movie was based or even watch prequels? Still, fun to hear their indifferent rants.
Guillermo $&@ via Apple Podcasts · Mexico · 12/27/21
I love the conversations you all have around film and philosophy, they’re always interesting, but there is a serious void of diversity in your guests. Other perspectives would enhance this podcast exponentially!

I like this show, I generally do. However, if you know you’re a movie podcast, why wouldn’t you bother to do a little research prior to the movie you’re discussing. I think everyone should pull their weight especially if you’re a co-host. And it’s totally ok to not like a movie but at least have...Read full review »

Austin to a large degree carries the show by being the most researched and involved in the philosophical nuances of the film at hand. But there is a lack of representation ranging from race to sexuality and most glaringly gender. A more balanced version of this podcast would have more women,...Read full review »

I like most of the discussion on the movies on here with one exception,,,. They have to remind us that they are horrible white guys that are full of guilt over god knows what??

This podcast was not an analysis of the Shining, but a critique of Room 237. (Yeah, i haven’t seen your faces either and don’t know your day jobs.) Not a very sophisticated analysis.

These casters possess the knack so many others lack: they can have an entertaining and engrossing conversation WITHOUT stepping on each other and derailing the discussion with irritating competitive quips to see who can be the most clever and quirky. Even when they disagree they allow each other...Read full review »

I just found this podcast because I was looking for one that talked about movies, their meanings, themes, filming techniques and more and I found it! I find film super interesting and I enjoy listening to what the members of this podcast have to say about films.

Really enjoying the back catalogue - it’s a good conversation with some good insights and observations. Also, everyone let’s each person speak without constantly interrupting, which is a big plus for any podcast. Keep it coming! 👍

The old crew of Ryan, Austin, and Jared had a report with each other and a truly interesting dynamic that just worked.
