I originally wrote a review stating that I knew Addie, and reached out to the podcaster and told her my rather strong feelings about the episode about Zack and Addie. Actually I knew both of them, and while we didn't hang out etc ...Addie was a regular part of my week and I liked her. She mentioned that my review upset her, so I decided to give this one more try. The episode of Zack and Addie is just the same old story that every single person that has ever covered this story has told. A large part of the blame is put on Addie and when you consider what happened to her is really ... well to me it is tragic and a little sloppy. Addie didn't deserve to be murdered and she sure didn't deserve to be violated in the horrible ways that she was. With a crime this horrific, I think it is so easy to put the blame on the victim, because what inspire a man to do this to a woman he loved ... Addie did not deserve what happened. She doesn't deserve to be remembered like this. The podcast episodes obviously owes a lot to the book Shake The Devil Off and adds nothing to the story. There was practically no research into Addie's life beyond a quick sentence about how she had been abused in the past. She deserves better. Addie and Zack have been covered in several tv shows etc ... the episode of the podcast adds nothing of substance to their story. Having said that if you like true crime you might like this podcast - Erica has a great voice, and I imagine she is a good storyteller and southern stories certainly have a tinge of weird that is worth exploring. I won't be listening because Zack and Addie made me so sad. I'm hoping that in the future Erica does go beyond the surface and maybe doesn't cut the killer so much slack.Read full review »

No witty chit-chat between presenters, no tangents, rants or silliness. Just the relentless unfolding of a tragedy. For lesser-know cases, beautifully and compassionately told, you really should give Southern Fried True Crime a listen.

I always cringe when trying a new podcast. So many people today producing rambling, poor audio content. REJOICE! This podcast is silkly smooth, facinating and new. Erica tells stories with a balance of humor, compassion and honesty that is totally appealing. I regularly listen to between 15...Read full review »
