Enjoyable musical analysis of this wonderful music. I especially enjoyed the connections with Beethoven’s 5th piano concerto, Aaron Copland, and the sound of a shofar. I always learn something from each podcast.

Really really enjoyed the Beethoven’s 5th episode! My only quibble- I don’t think anyone needs to hear the first eight notes to recognize the music. The first four’ll do it. Esp since (to my musically challenged ears) they seem to be a repeat.

I’m an amateur orchestra musician and I found this podcast by googling the symphony we’re playing - I absolutely love learning more about how the music is constructed. As someone who loves music but never studied music theory this is perfect!

I really appreciated the podcast up until I found out about your fundraising for the Democrat party. I thought this podcast was a refuge from the usual divisiveness of the podcast sphere and was strictly focused on classical music. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making me appreciate...Read full review »

I listen to podcasts during my morning walks and it always lights up my day to see that a new episode has popped up. Quite a few of my new favourite works have come from Josh’s recommendations. Great stuff!

I truly appreciate the work the podcaster has put into this episode. Using original recordings to demonstrate the birth of the blues teaches you what the composer had around him in his time. The explanation of each movement drew your ear to listen. Having the podcaster’s use of a recording in...Read full review »

I used to like this podcast until the host decided to go political. I don’t listen to a podcast about classical music for the political view of the host. Why alienate half of your audience?

I went looking for a podcast of classical music, and was surprised and delighted to find a podcast commenting on classical music. It’s educational in the best way, fun and humorous.

Three stars because I loved this show. Then they decided to get involved in political fundraising. I appreciate the honesty but, unfortunately, no account was taken for all the musicians who are not far left.

I love this podcast, however, the word “folk”, contains a silent “L”, like the silent “T” in the word “often”.

Previously I gave this podcast 5 stars. Since Weilerstein has started using it to promote political candidates, I have to lower the rating.

It is such a fun to have Joshua Weilerstein as your interlocutor, although he does all the talking. His choice of music is quite interesting and analyses are very informative. Shows on Bartok and Shostakovich were outstanding. Surprisingly, I also learned a lot from his “Something“ in 60 minutes...Read full review »

A masterful analysis of this piece by Maestro Weilerstein, who makes a good case that it is Dvorak’s greatest symphony. Another wonderful podcast!

As a classical music novice, there is quite a bit in this podcast that goes over my head… However, the vibrant narration, evident joy in music, and well structured episodes mean I still get heaps out of it. It’s a great soundtrack for when I’m out walking my dog! Thanks

Josh’s episode on Beethoven’s 5th symphony shed new light and helped me to find new inspiration in a work is that I’ve listened to hundreds of times.
