It’s unfortunate. I agree with many of the other reviewers at the stories. Interesting but I just couldn’t get over that. It sounded as though they were reading directly from script no inflection intonation or feeling.

to the awful narration. Terrible voice who sounds like she’s reading an 8th grade book report. I’m interested in the story, but had to turn off after 10 minutes. A shame.

Such a good listen 🔥

I was bored after the first minute. I feel like you’re just a girl in a room reading a script on white lined paper. it’s alwaynice to add some fluctuation in your voice and Make things more conversational. You could also speed up your speech a little, I feel like I’m being talked down to because...Read full review »

A must listen for anyone craving a real unfiltered story about bringing justice to those wrongfully convicted. I love how Shannon narrates and weaves in real voices of those involved!

The Alley is everything a good story should be—suspenseful, well-written, and richly populated with memorable and flawed characters. Not since The Wire (on HBO) and When They See Us (on Netflix) have I been drawn into an urban landscape that resonates with such authenticity and nuance. There must...Read full review »

This case blew me away. I’m really into true crime but hadn’t heard of it before the Alley. Shannon’s research is extremely thorough. I don’t want to give too much away. Just give it a listen if you’re a true crime aficionado. You won’t be disappointed.

I had never heard about this case before this podcast. It was a great view into the case and super enlightening. From listening to this podcast it has led me to do more research into the case.

I’m ashamed that I never knew of this tragic, disturbing, race driven story! Ever American needs to listen to this true story. This podcast is well narrated and the research is very well done.

This podcast is moving and profound around race and injustice in America. As a black woman, I feel I am learning more about my history and the changes that our country still needs to make, especially in our judicial system. I’m thankful that someone has taken the time to tell their story that our...Read full review »

I had a long drive ahead of me and opted to listen to the first few episodes, and now I’m hooked. On the mystery, and on the mystery of how the injustice happened, Shannon does a masterful job of telling the story and keeping us listening to learn more.

I am not a podcast listener. I have a hard time sitting still long enough to listen to them. But Shannon caught me with her first sentence and has me hooked. Amazing research and impressive writing narrated by this young woman. This is a beautiful story about a horrible crime and a the...Read full review »

This story is at the intersection of race, history, murder and politics that are still present today. The NE section of DC is still policed at a higher rate and the citizens are still feeling impact from past years. The storyteller does an amazing job of weaving present DC with the DC during this...Read full review »

Why listen to this podcast? Because we owe it to these Black men (and countless others) to hear their stories, to bear witness to what they experienced at the hands of our criminal “justice” system, and to pledge to do better as Americans. Thank you, Shannon Lynch, for your scrupulous research...Read full review »

Having listened to both episodes, I highly recommend this story. It is professionally researched, told and painful to listen to as a US citizen. We all need to listen to this travesty and try to change what still is in America.

A riveting podcast which details a generationally important case that shaped DC. This story serves as a cautionary tale and brings awareness to the injustice to the men wrongfully convicted. Excellent research and storytelling by Shannon Lynch. A must listen!

Two episodes in and Shannon has me hooked. The historical context provided thus far has provided an insightful angle on understanding this case beyond a superficial level. I can’t wait for others to listen in and see the work and thought put behind telling this story.

I am a retired DOJ lawyer and this podcast reminded me that DOJ lawyers are taught to seek justice not to only seek convictions. It is unfortunate that this podcast demonstrates that the D.C. United States Attorney’s Office was so eager to convict these young men for this murder that they most...Read full review »

Takes the crowded true crime genre and pivots it to focus on the experience of people who experienced the loss — of a friend/mother or of their freedom. Well done!

This first episode drew me in especially when voices were added of those in the neighborhood or those related to the victim. Couldn’t get through it without crying. How can I handle the remaining episodes? The justice system failed these men… I hope they get the justice they deserve. You can tell Shannon and the team put in years of work into the project. Let’s change the world!

Two years in the making, so I know it will be good. Loved all the first hand encounters and interviews so far. I can see how this will unfold but the details of overlooked evidence thus far tells me it’s gonna be great! Can’t wait for more.
