Great guests, but stop interrupting
While the guests are fantastic, I’m not sure I, nor the interviewer, Goldberg, heard the important insights the interviewees are sharing. Consistently interrupting and over-explaining for his guests detracts from their work and the listeners’ experience. Beyond creating an entertaining podcast, Goldberg seems to be uncomfortable admitting that he and “progressive liberals” are also culprits of the racism and privilege the interviewees discuss. For example, when Nikole Hannah-Jones gives information on racial segregation in schools, Goldberg really doesn’t need to repeatedly interject to point out that we’ve made process, white families don’t want segregation and his experience was of perfect diversity. While asking questions and preserving nuance is good, let’s let the experts talk and be a little more self-aware.
