Great stories, and relevance
I, too, am a first-generation American, on my father's side. I remember how real British history was to him, the wars, the monarchs, the peace treaties, the 100 year's war, etc. You are right about history as it was taught here—pretty lame and uninteresting - they were "teaching for tests", and seemed to have little passion for the subject. Well, and how much passion can you muster when you only have a few hundred paltry years anyway?! Though this history was important in my father's memory, he was not a story teller or an educator. I appreciate the knowledge and passion you have—you bring the stories alive! a comment: I think that touching upon related geographic, political, social, paleontological, etc. subjects which directly affected the progression of events, or our perception of them, are invaluable. keep them up! a question: how much do you sympathise with the Romans? Thank you!Read full review »
