A great story - shame about the story-telling style!
The intriguing story of the death of King Boris is presented in the form of a slightly half-baked whodunnit, especially when it is more or less immediately obvious who was responsible to anybody with a passing interest in European history. The structure, a series of unlikely hypotheses eliminated one by one with increasing breathlessness, irks more than somewhat, as does the shoddy editing and peculiar references to institutions like the "secret services". To the younger listener however, there will be a lot to discover, and less to complain about, but old fogeys will wince at the lack of gravitas, the dumbed down approach, and a weird choice of birthday present for an ageing princess.Read full review »
