"The Chess Angle" is required listening for me. As specified in the intro it is a chess podcast focusing on busy improvers with limited study time. The host is knowledgeable as well as enthusiastic. He has some very interesing guests and also goes "solo" with tips for openings,...Read full review »

I love this show! Since starting a new job, and taking the long car journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh every morning Neil and his guests have become one of my most trusted and reliable ‘get me throughs’. As a club player (at Cathcart Chess Club), so far this season I am yet to lose a game. While...Read full review »

It’s great to get the perspective from an amateur who understands the grind we go through as adult improvers.

While not all the info in this show is appropriate for my skill level - or lack of skill level - it has nonetheless been incredibly helpful for me to feel immersed in the language and culture of chess. I’ve felt very supported in my rocky road to improvement and I will be on the lookout for new...Read full review »

I have been listening to the Chess Angle Podcast for about 2 months now. This podcast is mostly about helping the fellow club level adult chess improvers out there with their chess game on a wide range of chess improvement topics. Neil presents the show well and keeps things fresh with new ideas...Read full review »

This is a great podcast with good content. My question is I know the host does not like using chess.com ratings on OTB tournaments I am looking to be going to my first tournament if they are looking for my skill rating what should I tell him or her?

I like the topics covered and who this podcast is aimed at but the host repeats himself so much that it’s really exasperating.

This podcast has quickly climbed the ranks for me and has become one of my favorite and must-listen shows that I listen to. I am a fairly new club player, and I’ve learned a ton from Neal, both in the interview-form shows as well as the solo shows where Neal picks a few topics and expounds on...Read full review »

After listening to many episodes, I need to say that my earlier review was not well founded. This is a very good podcast.

I last played chess on my high school team and have recently returned after nearly a 40 year hiatus. Upon my return I was overwhelmed by the abundance of material that is “out there” and was really clueless on how to go about retooling my game. That is where this podcast comes in. You will get...Read full review »

For a high school teacher looking to improve their game (the guy typing this), The Chess Angle is the perfect companion to what little time I have to study. I listen on my way to school and it gets me into the mindset of the board, qualms the nerves for certain psychological oddities like facing...Read full review »
