Unprepared interviewer, judgemental and desinformed
Good podcast, but I couldnt help but to get constantly frustrated with the interviewer presenting everything through his own personal views of how 'he would have acted in Barri's situation' or how she 'should' have acted in his view. As an interviewer and presenter of facts he should have just presented the story from a neutral perspective and without judgement. It shows how little prepared he was to interview victims of cults. Barri herself is a cult survivor and he is constantly judging her in a super harsh way, though never to her face but with comments for us the listeners; yet he had built his entire podcast based on her testimonies, material obteined from her and her willingness to help the truth come out. Very sad stories. I suggest Adam Dudding listens to a podcast like Sarah Steel's from Australia 'Let's talk about sects', were stories of victims of sects, cults and abusive mind-controlling groups are presented, so he can learn how to interview these survivors and how the things they go through affect them.Read full review »

Great storytelling about a significant event in the history of Aotearoa New Zealand

It’s too padded out with cultural context ‘light’, as if talking to children. Very slow.

Very difficult to listen to these men/women and not be judgmental… If it wasn’t the great research work and the host, I’d have stopped listening to it
