In-depth reporting of major news stories without media hype. No David Muir sounding hosts! Barbaro let’s NYT reporters tell the story with good follow-up questions, as opposed to the verbal histrionics of the hosts of NPR’s “Up First”. I learn so much in 20 minutes every day! Thank you!

This podcast provides a breakdown of the important news in a non-biased, fact-based way which helps me understand what’s going on. I really appreciate having this tool to interpret the news.

The Daily breakfast, along with a side of Stern, is clinically proven to give they the information you to have a well balanced day.

I especially loved the episode with the young Palestinian who shared his inspiring and utterly smart views on the Israeli election. I love how The Daily is open to *all* sides of a conflict and not just the one that are politically opportune and gives them room for their thoughts and views.

I’ve come to expect excellence; AND, having listened to 4 podcasts already on this topic, your coverage stands out. -tone and format (Bravo, Michael and team) -access to THE BEST sources (Bravo to NYT reporters)

I’ve had some criticism about the superficial way you present stories through this podcast, but I have never heard a worse or more misleading report than the episode for April 19, 2019 discussing the Mueller Report. You leave listeners with the impression that obstruction of justice by the...Read full review »

One day, when science catches up and has the whole picture, history will not be kind to those who went about solving their “problems” in this way, and fully believing they have the right to do so. People can lie to themselves, but the thing about truth is that it exists no matter what anyone...Read full review »

While I appreciate Michael Barbarro’s reporting, I really like that you have started mixing it up with other narrators . Michael’s inflections can be very tedious. The Abortion episode is fabulous . Thank you for allowing other reporters to narrate .

I appreciate that the NYT has tried to put aside their rabid President hatred to be at least semi-unbiased, but sometimes this podcast will randomly pound home a one-sided leftist agenda and... no thanks. If the NYT wants to no longer be considered propaganda, they should try hiring a couple...Read full review »

I really enjoy this informative podcast on my way to work. Yes, it is left leaning, but this is the NYTimes after all. Yes, the stories are structured into a narrative, but this makes it more engaging in my opinion. The editing is great and the guests brought onto the show bring useful insight....Read full review »

Exceptional production quality, editing and reporting. Some selection bias (disproportionate platforms given to those on the left—e.g. multiple Democrat senators have been given entire episodes, none for Republicans). Probably unintentional and just the result of there being (almost) no...Read full review »

You would think that, because this is a NYT podcast, that it would inherently lean a little left. That is actually not the case. It is the most moderate, factual, unbiased reporting I’ve ever heard. I’m addicted. It has actually made me more moderate on many topics where I was far left before. I...Read full review »

I'm a huge fun of the podcast, but I am so bothered by the April 11 episode that I feel compelled to write a review. First of all, there is no mention of the fact that every war in which Israel has acquired more land was started defensively. This is a key fact, because it otherwise lends to the...Read full review »

I so appreciate the work of Michael Barbaro and the NYT in bringing this podcast to us each day. I love that he breaks each story down for those of us who do not know the background. I also find him very respectful and understanding. This podcast is the reason I now subscribe to the NYT.

This show is where you can get your echo chamber fix if you are left leaning politically. They push the same lazy mainstream news narratives.

This review is specifically about Monday’s episode with Scott Shane. First he said that Julián Assange was screaming “you can resist” which is incorrect (it was U.K. not you can). Then he dismissively referred to Chelsea Manning as a bored private which is really an outrageous personal opinion. ...Read full review »

Way too inherent liberal bias. Doesn't even try to mask disdain for Trump.

I started out listening to him because I wanted to get an unbiased view of the news, but he brings on people that have a narrative and muddy the water of facts. Go else where for the news, like Ben Shapiro or NPR.

I feel that every episode does a great job of explaining things in a concise, factual, easy to understand manner. Also, I appreciate that Michael Barbaro asks great questions, but allows the guests to speak without interruption which unfortunately, so many journalists seemed to do.

You have to be a millennial to tolerate the host’s vocal fry. It does cover top stories from the US, but not the world. It’s like the ‘World Series’ in that respect. The focus is on US politics.
