you’re losing me
I woke up this morning SO excited to become politically engaged again on the heels of Kamala’s nomination. As someone who has long been passionate about politics, I have been saddened by how disillusioned I had become over the discourse of the past few years. But I felt the spark again yesterday. I listened to the Biden episode and discussed it with my colleagues and family, proud to be armed with informed talking points. I signed up to canvas for Kamala. I tuned into more news than I had in months. This morning, I was even more eager to learn more about her candidacy, previous policy she had worked on, and was inspired to equip myself with all the talking points possible to engage those around me with her campaign. And more than anything, I was swelling with emotion and pride to think about the reverberating impact her success would have on children, and little girls and young women in particular, who would be more encouraged than ever and therefore create an incomprehensible impact on our economy for years to come. So you can imagine the devastation, the pit in my stomach, and the fuming female rage that took over me when I realized the next episode was only going to be about how LIKEABLE Kamala is. The fact that THAT has to be the first conversation we have is not only heartwrenching as a grown woman, but a devastating reminder of all we’ll ever teach our little girls. So instead, today I went to work with that spark extinguished as quickly as it came about. With my spirit crushed and smashed. Or to quote a great, with all the pieces of me scattered on the floor. Today, I am reminded that I am to focus first and foremost on being likeable, amiable, and pleasant at work, rather than fueled to accomplish my tasks, my goals, and my dreams. Today, I am crushed. I want The Daily team to know they are responsible.

Michael is the best. The Run-Up was brilliant during the campaign season, and this is just as good. It's a must-listen for me.Read full review »
