Thanks Jessie Loved listening to all these amazing birth stories. I had a general anaesthetic C section with twins, then awake C section, then a VBAC ( every birth scenario) so I could relate to many of these stories.

Love these mammia podcast they talk about such relevant topics. Even if topics aren’t relatable they are still very interesting. Thank you’s all so much for filling out my hours driving around a truck in the mine. You have helped me through death, grief, child birth, periods and saving the planet...Read full review »

Fantastic to listen to all these different stories. Literally counting the days for every new episode.

This is another example of mainstream media causing women to feel anxious and fearful about pregnancy and birth. If you would like accurate information please see BirthTime a new award winning documentary, please follow midwife thinking and choose your model of care carefully! Midwives are...Read full review »

I’m absolutely fascinated to hear other women’s birth stories. I’m 56 now and I’ve had 6 babies and every one of my births was a different story. Four times it was a simple, great outcome, twice quite heartbreaking. It all becomes part of the fabric of our stories.

Update 19/06 Really have enjoyed these stories. Totally appreciate that these are individual stories and love the tone that Jessie sets and you can tell she is super curious. Great storytelling and love that you’ve included birth partners point of view too 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Loved this and can’t wait for...Read full review »

This, like many TV shows, is less about the empowerment of women…..and more about choosing sensational stories for ratings. Birth is as normal as life gets. Knowledge is power….and the more education and less fear about birth you have….. the more positive memorable your experience.

Unhelpful - almost jovial - not the in depth understanding / respectful stories I was hoping for. I found Australian Birth Stories instead for those still looking. Much more informative / and seemed much more understanding and empathetic. Also heaps of different types of people / stories.

Mamamia is becoming increasingly out of touch with the diverse experiences of different women. Not only are these stories misinformed, they are also not reflective of the average woman going through a pregnancy in the public hospital system. As a white middle-class woman myself, I feel...Read full review »

If I had listened to this prior to my planned C Section, I would have been terrified. I did not smell burning flesh. I did not have the experience that Fran did. I understand that every birth is different, but this episode is totally unhelpful to anyone considering a C section
alycejo via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/09/21
I wanted to to enjoy this podcast, however I found the tone completely off and I wouldn’t recommend pregnant women listen to it. It contains misinformation and does more to scare women then empower them for birth. Even the episodes titles are unhelpful. Note: this isn’t a comment on the brave...Read full review »

Oh dear, a lot of info in here is presented by the women as if it is fact but is not necessarily true - please listen to Australian Birth Stories for more balanced accounts of childbirth. Also suggest watching the documentary Birth Time as another great resource. Let’s not spread misinformation...Read full review »

MISINFORMATION!! I can’t believe all the incorrect information the woman was saying in the caesarean story. Caesareans are riskier than vaginal, and saying she looked at the stats for VBAC and it was too “risky”. The stats for something king wrong in c-section are higher. And calling VBACs a...Read full review »

Why
As someone who works in the birth space, I couldn’t finish the first episode. A worrying amount of misinformation - whether this is because of the lack of education of those speaking or to create drama/scare tactics, this podcast is not appropriate. Those who want to learn about birth should...Read full review »

What is with the terrible clown music in Fiona’s story - it’s so loud and distracting. I had to turn it off. Very similar to Georgia Love’s everybody has an ex in format/ music/ tone - how is it appropriate to a story about a couples story to conceive and give birth?
cosi1204 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/03/21
Listening to these stories was a great insight into how this life event can be so varied and that there is no such thing as normal. The background music was all wrong. It should add, not distract from the story.

Love the pod, but 30 minute episodes are not enough. This isn’t The Quicky, it’s birth stories. Both episodes to date have felt super rushed. We need hour pods on this topic.

As someone who’s pregnant right now, this was a must listen! It’s opening my eyes to different birthing options and I’m learning so much that will ultimately make me more prepared for whatever happens in my own birthing story!
SamMcDonald2310 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/29/21
This is such an insightful podcast of real stories. usually birthing pods are hosted by mums but Jessie brings a really special unique view. Love this can’t wait for more.

Love Jessie as a host. I feel like she is me asking all of the pervy questions that you want to ask but sometimes feel like you can’t. And the stories are real but not scary. A great informative show!
