Rivetting
Hearing the back room machinations of the lead up to one the most dramatic episodes in our political history is rivetting. I was 11yo when Whitlam was sacked and remember the enormity of it. The jubilation and shock from the adults around me. The outrage from others. The slavish reportage in the media. Fabulous podcasts. Igniting memory and the outrage at the time. The outrage persisted in others ways regarding the conduct of future governments. Treatment of asylum seekers, penalising people on centrelink payments, climate change deniers and it goes on.
