Absolutely my favourite podcast. I’ve been enjoying the Empire Podcast for many many years and it’s still so fun. Come for the exclusive interviews and spoiler specials, stay for the musical numbers, thoughtful analysis, hideous impressions and nonsensical backchat. It’s introduced me to so many...Read full review »

Can’t believe how scathing James was about Fiat 500s…he doesn’t know what he is talking about!! They are great!! One of the best cars Ive ever had (and I’ve had a few). I moved a ten-bedroom house using a 500. I fitted a 10-seater dining table in the back!! I’m outraged!! Take it back!!

I stopped listening for a while to have a break from Chris’s impersonations & “My opinion is always right “ James. Their review of Joker: Folie a’ Deux. Oh dear! Another break I feel.

Just wish there wasnt so many guests . It’s like dead air . Who cares what “actors” have to say about anything . And James is still the best one on here .

Simply the best film podcast available

The main podcast is ok, but I rarely listen anymore as there’s usually too much that I’m not interested in and have to skip past. The chemistry between the hosts is very good though and you can tell they know what they’re talking about. There seem to be less and less spoiler specials interesting...Read full review »

The Marvel stuff is just intolerable (I think they’re aware as they give time stamps so you can just skip it). I’ve been listening for years and still do so 5 stars for a truck load of free entertainment.

I’ve listened to this podcast for years now and I love the geeky banter and film chat. Chris is very funny and a really personable interviewer, Helen is brilliant and I’m already a big James fan from the Pilot TV podcast. Thank you guys.

This completely exemplifies the spirit of this podcast: If you think that Captain America Winter Soldier and other similar movies are some of the “best movies ever made” and want to hear people with equally abhorrent taste talk about cinema this is the podcast for you. Something that is more...Read full review »

Everyone is on the same page politically, no difference of opinion. Everyone is so on the same party line, the podcast gets insufferable at time. Interviews can be good and knowledge of films is there, but badly needs balance of views on films.
mattghatte via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/21/24
this is not a serious film podcast in any sense. this is a pod who will broadcast insane criticism about classic and ground breaking films and then will fluff each other for hours over the latest MCU piece of garbage. legendary chemistry but completely braindead film observers, unfortunately.

Been listening for about 8 years now and the podcast is consistently great. Love the humour and general structure of the show. Seem to be a lot of episodes of late with just Helen, Chris and James and I think it is better when there is the revolving fourth person I.e Amon, Ben etc just to add...Read full review »

I’ve been a listener to the pod since it’s beginning, signed up for the spoiler specials, pilot and pilot plus. It’s been a great fun ride brilliant interviews and reviews but ultimately as episode 600 airs It’s all starting to feel unfortunately stale. Chris Hewitt has been a great host to the...Read full review »

A great podcast with a great set of hosts always great conversations around the weeks news in movies, always has a nice relaxed feel to it. Been a listener for a long time felt it was time to finally leave that well deserved 5* review.

Guys (and I do mean guys)… or Chris… love you all, love you Chris, love the banter, a genuine fan, but… there’s no need to mine for comedy at each and every step. Chris and James especially have the funny bones - we love that - but it’s also ok to just let a film synopsis and review go by without...Read full review »

This is the one show I can’t wait to listen to every single week. The main cast; Chris, Helen en James have great rapport and their revolving group of colleagues and amazing guests.
Erikdme via Apple Podcasts · Netherlands · 11/12/23
Chris Hewitt is deeply unfunny; he talks a lot but says very little.

I need my weekly fix. The only problem is if I’m listening on the train to work and I burst out laughing in a crowded carriage. Very bad form on London transport. Chris and James are a very dangerous combination. I pity Helen trying to wrangle them.

Great sound quality and excellent hosts and guests Timestamps people we have them !! Love you Chris and Helen

I dislike this podcast immensely but I feel the lack of timestamps warrants a 5 star rating.

A fun, warm, expansive, expert-yet-inclusive film podcast from main hosts joker Chris, Helen (MVP) O’Hara (whose book is phenomenal) and James (whose ‘other’ podcast about TV/streaming is also great) plus regulars like Amon, Ben, Beth, this is an absolute weekly must-listen to keep up with movie...Read full review »

Spectacular interviews in this show from journalists who have a knack for asking good questions and maximizing their time with creatives. Look into the spoiler specials for more interview goodness, too.

I listen weekly. Ive been to the live shows. Fulfils my movie nerdiness (not like that)

If you relish a quick witted pun* and you are not averse to puerile humour** then I can recommend to you the fresh banter served weekly on the Empire podcast. This was always my go to movie podcast but has really gone down hill. We get it Helen, women should make more movies and all men are terrible but you dont need to tell us every episode. Can you please introduce timestamps? Love listening but I’m not interested in everything. You guys destroy Total film but I still prefer that show because of timestamps /Mattias

Some of the intros are far too long. The show with Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg for example, 50 minutes of 3 people who think they’re really funny talking absolute mince is unnecessary. Just give us the damn interview.

Not as good as the Pilot TV podcast but very few things are. Still a great listen and reliable and well informed reviews.

You literally only need to download one episode, they’re all exactly the same!! I’ve kind of fallen out of love with both Marvel and Star Wars of late, but I still find the spoiler eps on these shows and movies fantastic. That I happily pay to listen to these people talk about stuff I haven’t even seen yet says something about how great they are.

I listen to a few movie podcasts but this one is definitely the best. The reviews are honest, informed, and fun. I am from Belfast and have lived elsewhere for over 20 years. Listening to Chris and Helen makes me feel like home. Love the long rambling conversations, the reviews and the banter. Great podcast. I think James should also be bringing in cake for his colleagues here too - it’s only right!

It's almost embarrassing how much I look forward to this every week. Easily the best U.K. film review podcast. Silly, amusing, witty, entertaining and serious when it needs to be. You might disagree with the critics but you can never doubt their sincerity. The mag’s not bad either!
