Smug and self-indulgent
Wanted to like this but just can't get past the pervasive smugness that seems to emanate from nearly all involved. The hosts seem to feel a constant need to reference their geek credentials or 'quirky' speciality interests and as a result you get a strange sense of insincerity even when they are talking about topics about which they appear knowledgable. It might be inevitable that when you put a bunch of young, well-paid jourmalists from a 'cool' magazine together you end up with something self-indulgent but it does seem, with the guests they interview, that an opportunity for a very good podcast has been missed. To end on a slightly positive note their 'spoiler' episodes are a good idea and in better hands could make a great podcast.Read full review »

i was hoping this would make a good replacement for film weekly, which is sadly no more, but no. too much chit chat, too many in jokes, and not enough time dedicated to actually reviwing the films. you could easily shave 20 minutes of drivel off these podcasts. i guess i'll keep looking.Read full review »
