“Came by this podcast via a recommendation from a friend and can't recommend it enough.
(Im interested in history, but by no means enough to persue a degree in it. If history were football, I'd play on a team that kicks a ball around every Sunday and then heads off to the pub.)
Patrick Wyman won my respect in the second episode when he called our an academic for making an undergrad cry - this man obviously had a splendid moral compass, so I trust him in guiding me through the downfall of the Roman Empire.
And he does so wonderfully - from the perspective of the 'outsiders' rather than the Romans themselves. (Im currently at episode 4, so this might change in the second part of the series.)
Listen to this if you want to get a fresh perspective on the Fall of the Roman Empire (or, as in my case, re-learn what you once heard in a history lesson a long time ago.)”Read full review »
