Katy’s enthusiasm and deep research on the artists add to her wonderful interviewing style. Absolutely fills in the missing contributions of women artists.

Update: thrilled with the Camille Claudel episode!! I adore Katy Hessel’s infectious enthusiasm and passion for the art and devour every single episode! It’s opened up a whole new world to me of artists I never knew before and even the world of curators and historians, and how we think and talk...Read full review »

This show delivers in many ways. It’s a joy to find thoughtful discussions with and about women artists. Thanks for including fiber artists!

I’ve been listening ever since I got a hold of The Story of Art Without Men book. To listen to a space filled with women telling the stories of themselves, of artists, of goddesses and mythical women creates a space that I can melt into. You are among the very best, Katy!

The most recent Judy Chicago episode is absolutely incredible! As someone who’s loved Chicagos work since I was 16 it’s amazing to hear her in conversation

I’m hoping for a future video format - not just to watch the conversation, but it would be more engaging to see the artworks being discussed. Thank you for making this podcast, Katy!

I discovered this podcast today and have already listened to four episodes. So informative! Your guests share themselves as artists and people. My single favorite podcast. You just knocked Ben Luke into second place!😂

It’s all falling apart for me, Katy. I asked a few women artists that I work with if I’m just old and they said no, it’s bad. I don’t want to tear down anyone this interview is rough.

How I adore this podcast! I have learned so much about so many wonderful artists. I particularly love hearing directly from the artists themselves, about their process, their inspiration, and getting context for their many wonderful works. I wonder how that influenced her career and meteoric rise as a young artist. It seemed dishonest not to address. I listen to learn, not for fawning fan girl interviews.

As an art lover whose curiosity with art history came a bit later in life, Hessel’s varied outlets of art history hit me at a perfect time—just as I wanted to know so much more, while working past the limitations of patriarchal criticism and history-writing. She shows a commitment to...Read full review »

I have been reading Katy’s book, and discovered her podcast when I looked her up to find out more about the author. I’ve only listened to a couple of her interviews, but so far I find them thought provoking and impressively researched. I’ve started listening to Katy Hessel’s Great Women podcasts while making art, especially when working on repetitive tasks, where I don’t need to concentrate too hard. The podcasts keep me going, and I’m learning so much. Love Katy’s energy and conversations!

Looove this podcast. Some of the stories are delivered in such an engaging way. Binged this on the drive from melb to Sydney and only 1 ep (with a certain self-obsessed art critic) that wasn’t exceptional. Every other episode is so expertly delivered and tells these extraordinary stories of the...Read full review »

My favorite books to read are memoirs or biographies of/by femme artists, so this podcast is perfect for me! I really appreciate the depth & breadth of those featured, as well as Katy’s enthusiasm and lilting laugh! So joyful and deeply joyful. Thank you for celebrating these amazing artists!

The insistence on saccharine smiles and everything being “brilliant” becomes tiresome. It takes away from what would otherwise be great conversations. I’ve noticed guests are not allowed to truly open up because Hessel insists on keeping things light. But art is not only about joy and brilliance....Read full review »
