“Up until a couple of weeks ago I had no idea what a Grognard was, let alone have any awareness that I was one.
I came to this podcast after being sucked through an internet wormhole that mysteriously opened one afternoon; a portal that appeared after a sudden onset of nostalgia for old school RPGs.
Now, I can’t help binge listening my way through these thoroughly engaging and amiable podcasts.
I never actually played that many games back in the day but I did spend many, many hours reading the rulebooks, leafing through 'White Dwarf' and drawing up dungeons.
The Grognard files brings it all back; a Proustian rush of dice, tables, arguments, maps and memories.
Thanks to Dirk and his fellow Botonian gamers I feel inspired to start a games night of my own and find out what it’s like to play these games again as an adult.
