Jason and Xan - Cinema's most foul.
Film Weekly isn't a terrible show; it has good interviews and has recognition of Foreign and Arthouse pictures as well as Blockbusters, however all the good stuff ends there because the problem with it is it's hosts. Jason Solomons is without a doubt the most horrific film critic who angers and agitates me constantly. He's smug, opinionated, rude and to top it off, he's quite often wrong when recalling even the simplest film knowledge. Xan Brooks is also unbearable to listen too and just agrees with everything Solomons says. The pair sound like a unfunny and incredibly annoying version of Gervais and Merchant. Listen to any other film podcast before this one; it doesn't have to be Kermode, check out the Film Junk Podcast from Canada, those guys are very funny and entertaining.Read full review »

More reviews of The Guardian's Film Weekly
I really enjoy the insights that the Guardian reviewers bring to the table every week. I wish they would review more foreign releases though. Overall one of the best film podcasts out there. Highly recommend.

I could only stomach 2 podcasts before I had to abandon ship. Try Empire + Kermode & Mayo instead to listen to people who can talk about films without spoiling the plot, and articulate their opinions well.

Obviously cares a great deal about film, esp independent and the often unrecognised, but just doesn't do it...Read full review »
