Listened for 5 minutes, and she insulted several people. So mean. Ick on this podcast. The man was decent thank god.

Henry and Ben!! Good luck with new pursuits. We love you!

I really enjoy the insights that the Guardian reviewers bring to the table every week. I wish they would review more foreign releases though. Overall one of the best film podcasts out there. Highly recommend.

This is one of the better movie podcasts out there. I particularly like the fact that each episode gets to the point, contains several reviews and is short. Mostly under half an hour, but containing the same amount of in-depth reviews as other podcasts three times that length. Good reviewers...Read full review »

Love the Dailies double-act with Catherine Shoard and Henry Barnes: short, topical, often very funny, and with some insightful film reviews. Really missing the longer weekly show with the great Xan Brooks and the incomparable Peter Bradshaw.

The trouble with this podcast is that although these film critics may be good with the written word, they are poor presenters. Their jokes are weak, their attempts at being smart is contrived and their smugness is annoying. Worse, they have no spark and really show why they weren't...Read full review »

Afraid I preferred the version with Xan Brooks, so I'm opting out. The daily show is a little too clubby and in-jokey for me. Plus there's just not enough interesting film related stuff going on to bother with a daily movie show with no movie reviews.Read full review »

This podcast is great. Really entertaining, with brilliant hosts and topics, and a nice mystique. I've never seen even seen Avatar so my opinion probably shouldn't be trusted, but I thought you deserved a 5 star rating. ByeRead full review »

This is a pretty lame affair, as one might expect of something pumped out on a daily basis. The commentators hold forth sagely on the grosses of films despite having no real knowledge of film financing marketing budgets. One of them is guaranteed to raise all the requisite Guardian PC quibbles,...Read full review »

I could only stomach 2 podcasts before I had to abandon ship. Try Empire + Kermode & Mayo instead to listen to people who can talk about films without spoiling the plot, and articulate their opinions well.
Rawspit via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/07/16
Terribly produced, the sound levels are all over the place. When a film excerpt comes on, the volume is very loud so I have continuously adjust the volume.

They seem to have decided on the verdict before they have seen the film. The more the general public like a film the more they hate it.

Dull, pretenious and tedious.

I really appreciate this podcast - particularly the perspectives of Peter Bradshaw - one of the best film writers on either side of the Atlantic. My only complaint is that the volume on the podcast is shockingly low. A lot of podcasts have this problem but this one is off the charts. I am...Read full review »

No rational and well structured description of the films for review, pompous comments, wildly subjective viewpoints abound, inconsistent and the Edward Snowden film given reverential praise because it is a Guardian Story. Needs to be much much better.
Smiler998 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/25/14
Far superior to Kermode and Mayo, maybe not quite as good as The Film Programme. Unlike the former, it is compact, accessible, different every week and it's main focus is film. While it never attracts the same calibre of interviewees as it's BBC counterpart, nonetheless it does provide...Read full review »

This show helps me to see the beauty of cinema. There are different views on the same film.

This is a great show - a little too short, I'd love it if each episode was twice as long. You can't really relax into listening to a podcast that's too short but regardless the reviews here are thoughtful, insightful and well-informed - more please!Read full review »

Started to download this after they cancelled the excellent show presented by Jason Solomans. Jason was a real film fan - Brooks and his colleagues are the worst sort of film reviewers: pretentious and elitist. The Film Weekly podcast was cancelled and then this appeared. Jason Solomons was the heart and humor of the smart spin on cinema and his fans are left without an explanation for his absence.

What can possibly replace this excellent podcast? Consistently amusing, insightful and beguiling, I miss the banter between Jason and Xan. Am I the only one feeling bereft and stunned at its sudden demise?
cushioncovers via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 06/01/12
I cannot believe this was cancelled. It was absolutely awesome and also complemented Kermode et al. The formula of interview + reviews was excellent. Plus Solomons was a much needed champion of British cinema.

This podcast is no more sadly, 29th March 2012 is the last one. I really loved this film podcast, much better than Kermode and Mayo on 5 live, far too many rants for my liking. I'm really sorry to see this finish so suddenly. Have a rethink Guardian please.Read full review »

Essential listening for the real cinephiles out there. Great interviews with the most interesting film makers of the moment. High brow to be sure but Mr Solomons is not beyond the odd fnar fnar joke either. Informative and fun.

Film Weekly isn't a terrible show; it has good interviews and has recognition of Foreign and Arthouse pictures as well as Blockbusters, however all the good stuff ends there because the problem with it is it's hosts. Listening to the Oscars 2011 show, I don't know if these guys always have background music to their chat (admittedly it's not always there) but when it's on and they're talking it's far too high in the mix so it's harder to hear what they're saying. Not to mention...Read full review »

Have decided to unsubscribe after, again, being told a plot twist in a new film. Utterly smug and sanctimonious he has this job. Opiniated yet knowledgable but in my opinion wrong a lot, even about basic stuff. Great interviews wasted but does have a good rapport. Like many film reviewers, Jason Solomons has a tendency to be pretentious and snipey.
