“Just to offer a slightly different context - as new forms of media replace legacy media pod casts such as The Herle Berle offer a window into not just the policy making process but also the quirks and foibles and passions of the folks who are leading (and shaping) Canada. It is the new face of political journalism. Entertaining? Yes. But it’s “important” too, as it encourages non partisans to listen, discuss, consider, and engage in the political sphere. In contrast ... I often ask myself what value does The National's interminable 'At Issue" panel bring to our understanding of Canadian politics? How does it advance the story of Canada? IMHO - not much. It's a TV time-filler. And poor Paul Wells scribbling late into the night at MacLeans is becoming even less relevant. My kids get their world view from John Oliver, Colbert, Seth Myer, Trevor Noah, etc. I can only hope that as they mature they’ll become HB listeners too.”Read full review »
