“If you're thinking of listening, here are some important (and unimportant) things to consider that I got out of listening to season one and some of season two.
Important things (small spoilers):
-The show is very slow to start. The first 9-10 episodes are just character building with strange events in the background. After episode 11, though, it's like a different show: magic, monsters, battles. It completely transforms from this slow, mystery show to a big action-fantasy thing. I wish it got to the exciting stuff sooner.
-If you're bored by the first two episodes, you could probably skip ahead to episode 9 and just go from there. This will give you a better idea of what the show really is--especially after 11. If you like it, go back and listen to the early ones you skipped to get to know the characters.
-Things in season two are even more fantasy, with alternate dimensions, body-switching, and bigger monsters. It reminds me of one of those ensemble superhero shows like Stranger Things (but with adults).
-There is a narrator. He isn't too annoying, like he doesn't just talk through all the movements, and he doesn't say much except in the first episode. If you refuse to listen to narrators at all, well, maybe skip this show.
-Contains adult language and quite a lot of violence. Nothing too sexual. Best for adults but suitable for teens.
Unimportant things:
-Almost every review complains about the theme songs. Each season has a different one. They're not great, but I've never looked for new music by listening to fiction podcasts. It's like saying a book has a great story but giving it a bad goodreads review because you don't like the color of the cover. Mostly I just skip over the song.”Read full review »

“That’s all I could stand, cliche horrible characters, why does everything have to be about social justice and privilege these days?
What happened to telling a good story without the b******t?”
“I’m on episode 13 and thinking of giving up. The story is good but dragged out with far to much pointless dialogue. No need for a narrator, Alfie is so annoying, the accents and use of English slag poor and misused. Think the podcast has an identity issue, is it horror or comedy? at times I just...”Read full review »

“This show starts off slowly but really gets into the exciting stuff around what they call the midseason (about episode 11). The lead-up is a good exploration of the characters and their normal world before everything turns upside-down. In this way it reminds me of TV shows like Fringe or Lost...”Read full review »
