Perfect companion to History of Rome
Just as The History of Rome looks to be winding down, along come this podcast whose beginning is the Roman evacuation of Britain. Mr. Crowther mixes excellent summations of historical events with wit and charm. History podcasts understandably tend to focus on the political events and leaders, but Mr. Crowder makes the attempt at creating vignettes into the lives of the rest of the society...these often turn out to be the most fascinating parts of the stories. He provides his information in a clean, concise manner, and it's impossible to miss the joy he takes in talking about history. Other than the occasional editing error (a repeated phrase on a rare occasion), this is as entertaining a podcast as you are likely to find, and a worthy successor to THoR.Read full review »
