I found it frustrating that the male presenter was unable to complete more than 5 words straight without a stutter or an “um” and the female presenter was so monotone.

It's pretty good.

The only sad part about this podcast is that I wish I could chat with these insightful, charming people about books. :)

I cannot recommend this podcast enough whether you're familiar with the other podcasts on the Idle Thumbs network or not. I have discovered so many great books I normally wouldn't have because of this podcast and the hosts of the podcast do a great job breaking down what they liked or didn't like...Read full review »

This podcast is extremely well-done. The book discussion is substantive and brings meaning to the book. I'm glad the podcast is back and hope they can maintain it on a regular basis.

Chris and Sarah are a very nice couple who like books. Listening to them respectively discuss their thoughts about a piece of literature is delightful. Having read the book helps, but they're still very pleasant podcast hosts regardless.

What a shame.

This is easily my favorite book podcast, I really hope they keep it up. They Should pick The Magus by John Fowles as the next book once they finally do the fabled Wolf Hall episode.

Interesting, insightful and occasionally hilarious; definitely worth a listen.

Transparency, I'm an English Major who more or less stopped reading recreationally for several years. This podcast led me to dive back in and my life has most certainly be enriched as a result. Being well-aware of the predispositions of the primary podcasters thanks to their video-game podcast...Read full review »

I very much enjoy the Idle book club. Due to the regular idle thumbs podcast I feel like I've "known" the cast for years and can relate to their tastes and recommendations. So with the great gatsby episode I've finally started reading again. Thoughtful discussions and good humour.

I always had problems finding interesting books to read and this podcast has really gotten me back into reading with selections I probably wouldn't have learned about otherwise. I feel like it's enriched my life and brought me back into reading as an experience rather than just a utility.

I discovered this in October and started listening cause I had already read their first two books and loved both of them. The discussions are really interesting, but probably the real reason I love this podcast is because the hosts' tastes in books are so similar to mine. I had already read 5 of...Read full review »

I read for fun, have never studied literature, I like to be challenged and feel differently after I've read a book. And can't stand chick lit! If you're similar then I definitely recommend this podcast. I look forward to it each month. Interesting debates, thoughtful, respectful of the authors...Read full review »

A great podcast that focuses on shared experiences over literary theory

A spin-off of the brilliant Idle Thumbs video games podcast, that instead features a thoughtful conversation about a particular book each month. I've enjoyed both of the first two episodes and am looking forward to the third.

Anyone familiar with original-flavor Idle Thumbs knows that it's the most feelgood product substance in the videogames podcast brandspace. Well, now you can consume that same delicious, technically nourishing earfood in dead tree medium edition! In all earnestness, this crew has long been...Read full review »
