“The Important Cinema Club is the best film-based podcast currently being produced. Though I've been long time listener, I've held off writing a review as I find it hard to describe thier appeal. If you liked Violet Lucca's Film Comment Podcast, this is the closest thing to it. The hosts have the knowledge and do the reading to be familiar with the subjects they discuss but they never feel too beholden to the work. Likewise, they never outright dismiss the subjects they discuss. The hosts bring out the best in each other, Justin's sincerity tempering Will's more toxic-irony tendencies, and Will's erudite persepective curving Justin's tendencies to talk over some of his other podcast's hosts. They also share an enthusiasm that extends to the listener. In the 2ish years I've been listening to it I have found more new favourite films from this podcast than any other source. The other great thing about the ICC is that the episodes rarely go over an hour.”Read full review »
