Please vary the narration!
Good show so far: Interesting story, I want to hear more. I don’t mind the narrator’s vocal fry (gravelly sound). But it bothers me that every sentence sounds the same: starts out in a higher volume and gets increasingly quieter and lower pitch toward the end. It’s distracting. I wish one of the producers would tell the narrator to mix up the way she delivers the narration. I used to teach kids public speaking, and this is something we taught them not to do. I’m surprised that a reporter at this level would still need to learn this. I hope it changes, because I do want to continue to listen to the show, but it’s hard to pay attention to the narration when I’m focusing on how it’s delivered.

The story is great and I want to listen to it but the presenter’s delivery is really irritating. Every sentence drops off at the end and every sentence has the same overdramatic emphasis. Vocal fry and a ‘This American Life’ delivery style make it almost impossible to listen to.

The vocal fry speech habit is incredibly annoying and I just cannot listen. I’ll have to read about this story online. Sorry Serial - I was so looking forward to your latest investigative podcast.

Absolutely shameful, but as a MT resident I’m glad they’ve chased this and are shining the light.
