Utterly Delightful
I listen to quite a few history podcasts on iTunes but The Land of Desire is quickly becoming my favorite. The historical events she covers are insightful and entertaining with tons of quirky characters and incredible situations. I pride myself on knowing a lot about European history but this podcast has managed to teach me quite a few new wonderful tidbits. Even the episodes that cover subjects I'm more thoroughly acquainted with are still worth listening to for Diana's lively retelling. Unlike a few other podcasts I've listened to, she doesn't just recite things in a dry monotonous voice. Instead, she really brings these stories to life with her genuine enthusiasm for the subject. Even though she produces the podcast all by herself, the quality is excellent! The background music is especially well done, blending perfectly with the mood of the story. That last comment may seem like an odd observation in a review for an history podcast but, trust me, something like the music can make all the difference. Just trying watching a great movie with a terrible soundtrack, it can completely ruin it. All in all, I highly recommend this podcast! Even if you're not interested in history, it is a joy to listen to and I eagerly await the next episode.Read full review »

The producer seems to choose her topics based on how interesting they are, instead of following a strict chronology. I...Read full review »

I lose patience with a lot of history podcasts but this one is so entertaining and well produced! I was worried the subject matter would be too specific, but not at all. I've loved every episode so far.Read full review »

The production quality on this podcast is amazing. Beyond that, the witty, slightly snarky way that we learn about the behind the scenes of well known history is incredibly enjoyable. Thank you so much for all of the hard work you’ve put in making this such an enjoyable, educational podcast!
