You don't need to have BPD. Listen anyway!
I can't recommend this podcast highly enough. I spent many years trying to identify my issues via the usual route of therapists and counsellors - and no-one gave me the slightest clue about the nature of my difficulties never mind getting as far as trying to resolve them. I started listening to Brian's podcast because I had identified narcissistic behaviours in my family of origin and I was aware that there were some similarities between NPD and BPD. I hadn't identified any specific problem in myself other than that I was exceptionally emotionally sensitive and sometimes completely overwhelmed by emotion when exposed to toxic behaviours (however 'mild'). I first started listening to the episodes which had titles I resonated with. I'd only got about 3 episodes in before realising that this guy was really onto something!! I then set about listening to them all, which isn't that difficult if done when going about general daily activities - gardening/housework etc. I ended up getting a whole emotional education 5 decades later than I should have done! I'm a work in progress, but I would NEVER have made the progress I have without Brian's exceptional talent and insight in this sphere. He presents the material with such simplicity, it's nothing short of genius. Whatever your 'label' or absence of one, if you have emotional difficulties that you can't get to grips with, this is the podcast for you.Read full review »

I’m both a clinician and a recovered psychiatric patient from BPD. I agree that full recovery is possible with hope being at the top of the list, but I also believe that BPD is a diagnosable mental illness. I believe recovery is possible through hard work in one of the evidence based therapies .

Thank you for giving me the information I needed to begin the 12 step process of apologizing to my children. Being an emotionally unhealthy parent has had a long lasting affect. It’s time for me to step up and acknowledge my actions as well as my indifference to their feelings
