I’ve listen to this podcast for at least four years and at first it was jarring to have a new cohost every year or two but I’ve come to appreciate the unique voices each host brings. With each new cohost the recommendations and discussions become even more varied - which I like. Rhonda and...Read full review »

I make time every new episode to listen to Frank and Crystal. They are very good people who i could listen to for hours converse about emotions books aroused in them. I found the podcast when I was trying to become a librarian and these two make me want to be a writer so that maybe they could...Read full review »

I enjoy the two hosts but can the NYPL part with a little endowment $ to get Frank some better audio equipment? It really detracts from the podcast. Unfollowing.

There’s two lovely people in the hosts, here. One talks 90% of the time and it’s such a shame, if you want a relaxing podcast. Otherwise if you’re not lazy like me you can enjoy without letting this aspect of the dialogue irritate.

I lovet his podcast and always looked forward to the beginning of the month for new content. Now I’m happy to tune in but always disappointed because I find since Christal the show has gone down hill. IMHO I think this is not the place for her. No offence but she gets in my nerves and I think...Read full review »

I’m very greatful that Frank is the one constant in this show. I always love Frank’s energy and how insightful he is. However, the introduction of Crystal leaves the show lacking that same energy found between Frank and previous co-hosts. I really miss Gwen and Rhonda. I’ll continue being a...Read full review »

I love this podcast even more with Crystal. Crystal has a soothing voice and vibe. Love the extra ASMR feature, too. Frank is amazing - as always! Their rapport and book dialogue is interesting, fun and easy to listen to.

I used to listen to this show religiously. I’ve even gone back and relistened to old episodes because I miss them. I really appreciate Rhonda and her work at NYPL, but unfortunately I don’t think she makes the best podcast co-host. The show doesn’t have the same energy as it used to with Frank...Read full review »

Discussion about books, words, authors, attitudes towards different books/words/authors, and the structure of language. Love the discussion and the knowledge and wisdom they share. BTW: I do read self help books too, Frank. 😁

kia ora, rhonda frank and gwen! i am a fan. it was all started from an episode called life-changing lesson, a title which i'd never click on. it played automatically as i was practicing my tennis with the wall at a local primary school playground. gwen and frank was chatting about...Read full review »

I made a review of the show a little bit ago as I was catching up on episodes and then caught up to the transition to Rhonda being on the show. Hey Rhonda and Frank, you both are so fun and remind the world how awesome librarians are! Thanks for inspiring people to read more, to diversify what one reads, and to interact with those readings. Keep it up!

I love this podcast and have been a listener since they did an episode with the guys from Overdue. I loved and miss Gwen, but Rhonda is an absolute delight! And Frank is, of course, a superstar! After 5 minutes when the introduction wasn’t yet out of the way I lost patience with the way the host sounds like they are yoyoing back and forth from the mic. This is the most fantastic book podcast. The hosts are engaging, witty and knowledgeable. I live in the UK and this podcast has really expanded my “TBR” list. Real comfort listening. Each time I tune in it makes me smile and I always learn something new. How I wish I was a librarian!

I’m noticing that Frank speaks over Rhonda at every turn, to the point that it feels like I’m listening to a monologue. It unfortunately kills any opportunity to construct meaning together, which is the best part in listening to a conversation. Does anyone else find this distracting?

I’ve been listening to this podcast since the very beginning, and I’ve enjoyed every minute. Frank & Rhonda have the rollicking rants of the couple in the coffee shop you really like, but never get the chance to know. Literati style banter, library level conversations. These two present a pregame to the party you didn’t know you wanted to attend

The old hosts had such chemistry. They were a delight. But Gwen left and the new host just isn’t vibing for me. Perhaps NYPL should look into another co broadcaster for Frank.

When it first came out, I loved this podcast, but now it’s just taken an awful turn.
