“I am fairly new to this podcast but have been enjoying each episode so much that I sometimes rewind some minutes just to hear Gwen and Frank chat about a specific topic. They have some friendly banter, but it is completely related to the topic of books, reading, and recommendations. The banter also helps me get a better idea of Gwen and Frank and their personalities and preferences. However, they tend to stay in very neutral positions when reviewing a book and will often give a brief synopsis, followed by more contextual information. This is very helpful as I've had previous experiences of glowing reviews of books that were underwhelming, or just the opposite. When Gwen and Frank get very excited, I also get really excited. This show has made my reevaluate my relationship to books and what I get out of them emotionally. I also love how each guest really adds depth and dimension to topics I don't always find in mainstream (think Target Best Seller shelf) literature, including ethnic and racial experiences, immigrant stories, poverty, and LGTBQIA topics.
Thank you both for keeping me such great company during work and during my commutes.”Read full review »
