This has been the most spiritually useful comprehensive capture of what it means to be here as a Christian. I grew up in a very catholic home, then explored Buddhism in my late twenties/early thirties, always with Jesus as my God. But I lacked the resources to mature in my faith despite being...Read full review »

Way back in the beginning, Fr. De Young was a guest on the Amon Sul podcast. He mentioned in passing that the “unclean spirits” Jesus casts out frequently in the gospels were seen by 2nd temple Judeans as the ghosts of the nephalem, the human-demonic hybrids of Genesis 6. (Hybrids, hence their...Read full review »

I enjoy how this podcast will go into great depth on things that don’t have a lot of time spent on them usually. Fr. Stephen has an immense amount of knowledge about the Old Testament and the Second Temple period specifically, which is really where the podcast is most interesting. My only...Read full review »

Look, you don’t know what it’s like to be a bat. You don’t know what it’s like to be Batman. You don’t even know what it’s like to be Alfred Pennyworth. So you definitely don’t know what it’s like to be an angel or God or any other heavenly power. Also there’s a connection between giants and...Read full review »

As a Protestant, love to hear how our Orthodox brothers handle Scripture and some of our common Tradition. Love the chemistry and charity of the two Fathers. Small gripe: repetition of “Right?” and “Um/Uh” by one of the Fathers.

These guys are intelligent, kind and have a great bro chemistry. It has helped me read the Bible more, especially the Old Testament. I am Protestant but have diving into Ancient Faith Radio podcasts for 5 years. Thea guys and the Symbolic World and Saint of the Day are my favorite.

The chemistry between both of the fathers makes talking about tough subjects, very light hearted, but at the same time so eye opening. I’ve grown so much in my faith through listening to this podcast. And I would recommend this podcast, even to those who are not orthodox!

I’ll make this short. Want your mind blown? Sunday school destroyed? World flipped inside out? No? Not your thing? Fine. You should leave then. I can’t unlearn what I’ve been learning. And unless you can handle possibly losing your grip on reality only to have it handed back to you by two men who...Read full review »

This has been my introduction to Orthodoxy. Fathers DeYoung and Damick have explained so many things I have had questions about my whole life. This podcast is brilliant.

If I had to name one podcast as the only one I could listen to, it would be this one. The biblical insights are pure gold. And they always bring every topic to how it practically relates to our walk with God. They always point me back to Christ and I love them for it. Great show. Keep it up.

I have learned so much from this podcast. It has brought so much depth to my understanding of the scriptures and opened my eyes to the importance of tradition in the understanding of what was written in the Bible. Thank you so much for investing the time and effort required to produce this podcast.

In a landscape dominated by charlatans touting their own personal delusions as absolute fact while simultaneously denying the possibility of absolute truth, or otherwise idly commenting on worthless pass-times, this show educates, illumines, and entertains like no other.

So much great material here to help us understand the bigger picture of salvation, how understanding the ancient near-East mindset can open our understanding of Scripture, and how the spiritual and the physical are one reality. A great resource to help you re-enchant your world.

In-depth dive into scriptures and historical traditions surrounding and creating Christianity. Get your map, some string, and some pins and get ready. Just kidding. They do all of that for you. In truth the show can be taken very seriously. But thank God they have fun on the way to making a point.

My wife and I have been very blessed by this podcast, but must concur with the numerous reviewers who find the use of the word “right” at the end of almost every sentence distracting. First-time listener and I have a constructive criticism - you say the word “right” way, way too many times - every other sentence, if not more, ends with a “right?” comment. It’s very distracting. Do you really need that much affirmation?

One of the hosts (I think it’s Fr Stephen Damick) swallows very frequently, very pronouncedly, and very loud, and it is VERY annoying. It needs to stop. Otherwise, this podcast is perfect. 5 star rating if not for the swallowing.
