Just finished season 2 coverage of rings of power. And it confirmed to me that this isn’t a good podcast. Deleted immediately from my library. First off David acted in the wrap up pod like he loved the show. Nope. You didn’t. Listen to the first 4 episodes. You yourself said you didn’t like them....Read full review »

Love your show. Big tolkien, marvel, game of thrones, star wars nerd!! Great content. Your coverage of The Last of Us is what brought me to your podcast. Never played the game but fell in love with the tv-show, one of the best of all time. Keep up the good work.

Started following this podcast after they started doing their Rings of Power overviews. I haven’t read the Silmarillion in many years and these guys can really distill that lore down in nice bite sized and relevant chunks to give me that deeper context for that is being shown and refresh my...Read full review »

Pronouncations and excessive R rolling are making this podcast unlistenable. Shame. Wish it was just David and John but have had to skip the ROP episodes.
werfgtyyg via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/24/24
Generally good stuff, but you usually have to wade through or skip about 7 minutes of nonsense at the beginning of each episode. We don’t need to hear about your screeners, your show guides, or your backgrounds at the beginning of every single episode.

Dropped in to try to satisfy my hunger for everything ROP related today. I wasn’t disappointed- thoughtful and informed content that’s easy to listen to. Also don’t fall into the trap of some other ROP podcasts of either being uncritical fanboys/girls on the one hand or dissing everything on the...Read full review »

It’s refreshing to hear a thoughtful, level-headed, non-snarky discussion of The Rings of Power, S2. There is actual analysis done about why certain adaptation choices are made rather than just reactions/opinions, and there is an ample amount of education going on about the lore. However,...Read full review »

Essential listening on Rings of Power with many interesting insights on lore. Very positive, insightful hosts. (And I like the way the hosts pronounce the names with rolling Rs, as Tolkien intended. )

I absolutely love this podcast for ROP S2. John and David are great and each bring a different perspective, and the addition of Tolkien-scholar Marilyn just puts it head and shoulders above any other ROP show. I’m a little late but fully intending to do the seasons pass. Keep podcasting, the road...Read full review »

Love digging deep into all things Tolkien. I’m really enjoying listening to the episodes on The Silmarillion having listened to the audiobook two years ago. I’ve now ordered a paperback copy and can’t wait to read it after finishing the whole series. Keep up the great work! Excited for your take...Read full review »

Love the show and the recaps, but when Mari-lyn is on she has to pronounce these already difficult places and names with this wild over the top way to pronounce these things, rather than just saying these names and places normally let’s put as much flare as possible on it and make it so...Read full review »

I came in when the newest Lord of the Rings; Rings of Power came out and fell in love with the type of people I could have talk at me about LOTR lore forever. Love the pod, usually come here for certain shows that I’m already into. (Unfortunately not much into Star Wars)

My husband and I love listening to you on our drives. We end up pausing each episode so many times just to theorize along with you. Keep up the amazing lorehunts!

I really like the podcast and specifically listen to it for its Star Wars content. The constant explaining of no spoilers and then stopping the natural flow of a conversation to not spoil something is really frustrating though. It’s even more frustrating when this happens in case of spoiling...Read full review »

I enjoyed Lorehounds in the past but I’ve now unsubscribed from their feed due to the casual spoiler dropped in the latest episode on Shogun. If this was merely carelessness I might give them a pass. But what made my blood boil was how delighted the co-host was in delivering the news that a...Read full review »

But please make sure your facts are accurate. You misname showrunners, actors, don’t bother trying to learn how to pronounce names or words correctly, especially in a show so steeped in culture such as True Detective:North Country. How many retractions and corrections do you end up posting after...Read full review »

David and John (and other contributors) are brilliant at creating rich, interesting and informative takes on my favourite shows all delivered with a gentle, self-deprecating humour. An essential companion to all the top TV shows.

it’s a pleasure to listen to David and John (and their guests), they are intelligent, funny, and also from different age groups, which makes for a great convo. The audio quality is excellent too.

Love all the podcasts but especially this combo doing Secret Invasion. As to Varra not recognizing Gaia - even Talos didn’t know that was his daughter until she said so. Outstanding podcast that gave excellent contextual meaning to a wild show. Revealed aspects of historical a literary connections that I was unaware of. Loved the show, and had been surprised at how moving many scenes were. Will listen to more shows from the Hounds.
