The horror, the story, the characters, the slow story building, the slow burn just- AHH this show is SO good!

I began to listen for the spooks, but stayed for the love story.

A cluttered archive full of potent horror stories.

I loved this podcast. The voice actors are very good. The separate stories are al kinds of creepy. A lot of cosmic, existential horror, which is my favourite. The stories that make you feel uncomfortable and scared on a deeper level. And then there is the wrap around story that is very well...Read full review »

You know those podcasts and books you wish to start all over again because they were so good. That is the magnus archives. I started listening to it after I saw a tiktok. The magnus archives has set the bar very high for my current podcasts. If like me you are having magnus withdraws, I would...Read full review »

I listen to it all the time and literally don’t know what to do now that it’s ended T-T it’s the best podcast I’ve listened to in a while and the ending was just wow. I definitely recommend, it takes a while to understand how all the stories fit with each other but once it starts to make sense...Read full review »

Supplemental: I started this over from the beginning after the finale (oh, that finale!!). It’s amazing the little details you catch when you know what’s coming! It really goes to show the writing, directing and production prowess. Enthralling, spooky and unsettling. The writing is fantastic, as...Read full review »

I adore this podcast and am now re-listening to the series starting at the beginning. I always appreciated the content warnings for the episodes. Just fantastic, give it a listen!! PS: Basira can get it 🤪

Just as the title says, this is the very first podcast that made me understand the hype around podcasts. I had tried others previously, but they didn’t keep my interest long enough to get invested. I had a friend keep asking me to give this one a try, “just listen to one episode before you swear...Read full review »

I read some good reviews and decided to give it a listen. I lost interest around episode 7. It’s not terrible, but it’s not very interesting either.

I only heard about this show after the end of the fifth season, but on the upside it’s allowed me to binge the series at work (up to the start of S3 now). Lovecraftian horror with a Charles Fort twist, liberally sprinkled with every phobia you can think of. Sensitive listeners might want to...Read full review »

Really amazing podcast, best I’ve ever heard. Not a massive fan of horror so I was worried I wouldn’t like it but honestly it’s so good. Brilliant characters and plot

I love the magnus archives. I just wish I could hit play and it follow in chronological order instead of reverse. It would make it easier to listen to while I’m working

On average, overall, the show was both fearfully and wonderfully made. The writing and acting are often superb, and serviceable at worst. For much of the series, the approach taken towards horror is refreshing and subversive in a way I’ve never seen before. I loved it more than I can say, and...Read full review »

I've been listening to this podcast since the fist lockdown last year, and I don't have any other words if not amazing and simply brilliant. The story is enthralling, I couldn't stop wanting to know more. It's a great podcast to listen to, if you love horror.Read full review »

These short stories are very well written and performed. I can’t wait to see how the connected plot continues to tie these accounts together, and the framing device is nothing short of genius!
Blue_Nimbus via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/18/21
This has to be one of the best written plot lines I’ve listened to! The only problem I have with it is the sound, I have to keep the volume almost at max just to be able to hear some parts/voices and even then they sound muffled and/or distant. It may just be my device but I’ve tried others as...Read full review »

The writing is amazing, as is the cast and editors! It's obvious everyone working on this show loves what they do and has a lot of passion. The stories are brilliant, the characters are easy to fall in love with, and the way things weave together, it's a creative and horrifying must-listen!Read full review »

This podcast works because the writing is so good. It’s a cross between M.R. James and The Twilight Zone. The stories are short and well-written, which is not easy. That’s why the podcast is so good. Also, the music. They know how to use it and when to use it. Frankly, all these stories should be...Read full review »

I just- no words. I finished it today, and it was totally worth it. The metaplots, the character arcs, the relationship developments- This show is the reason I gave Podcasts a chance. Do it. Listen. You won’t regret it
myfailedships03 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/31/21
This podcast is a perf blend of horror and mystery. Each episode feels like a standalone tale, but woven around it is a deeper story. Great voices and sound design.

First two seasons the writing is excellent, perfect placing of the horror, just enough breadcrumbs to start putting things together. The latter 3 seasons are forced, lack compelling narratives, become confusing then over correct to make it screamingly obvious. Listen to season 1 & 2.

AMAZING. I’ve listened to this multiple times, and it’s great every listen. Sometimes I listen to it while falling asleep; there’s not too many episodes with jarring ads or audio effects. This haunting series is extremely immersive. It’s horror and suspense at its best. After a long marathon it has actually started to affect my dreams. Rarely do I leave reviews, but I’ve been thinking of this show since I begun. Every part this far is impeccable, from the acting to the audio design (the cassette rolling makes for fantastic white noise behind the recordings), it’s truly fantastic.

This podcast is stunning in a “shivers down your spine” sort of way. Hoked from the moment I started listening to the moment it was over.
