There is up to a 30% genetic component that affects your risk of obesity. The biggest piece that genetics can affect is the levels of the hormones I’m talking about. Genetics don’t factor as much into metabolism as a whole.
Ads for foods, walking down the dessert aisle and seeing delicious treats, and even social pressure to have sugary drinks and foods can all increase levels of ghrelin, which triggers huge cravings. The good news is that avoiding those triggers can vastly help with reducing cravings.
