There are lots of reasons why someone might choose to be vegan or vegetarian, but if your only reason is weight loss, the most important objective is to stay in a calorie deficit.
Getting enough protein is crucial. Nuts, seeds, beans, and lentils are great protein sources for vegans, and yogurt and eggs are great sources for vegetarians. Plant proteins generally have less protein overall than animal proteins, so it’s important to prioritize them.
Be prepared with protein sources when you go out to eat or are going to an event where food will be served. Pack a greek yogurt cup in a small cooler, or bring a shelf stable protein source like pumpkin seeds or trail mix.
