The Minefield: Swearing
Another thought provoking episode. This is not so much a review asa comment that you mst find interesting. 'coño' is Spanish for what you called on the show the c word.While living in Spain, I began to notice that in addition to the ways in which it is used in English, it is used to 'change gears' when talking, the way in ehich we would use 'but'. Although it is iften used with the Spanish for but, pero. One day, watching an interview with the then prime minister, Felipe Gonzalez, I heard him say, in the middle of an asnwer 'pero coño' and shift gear to another aspect of the topic he was talking about.
