Description
On today's episode, I chat with Meg Martinez and Candice Christiansen who wrote a chapter in Altogether Us entitled, "Embodying IFS with Neurodivergent Clients: A Neuro-inclusive approach for therapists." Candice Christiansen is an adult-diagnosed Autistic female and licensed clinician with 20 years experience specializing in working with Neurodivergent older teens and adults. As the Founder and Clinical Director of Namaste Center For Healing In Salt Lake City, Utah, Candice uses IFS along with her and Meg's Neuro-Inclusive Approach to IFS with all their clients.   Meg Martinez-Dettamanti is a licensed clinician, IFS therapist, and Chief Program Officer at Namaste Center For Healing, where she has worked closely with Candice for nearly a decade. Meg has a Neurodifferent family and has been an advocate for Neurodifferent individuals and other marginalized populations throughout her career. Meg uses IFS along with her and Candice's Neuro-Inclusive Approach to IFS with all their clients.   We talk about: - Candice and Meg's stories - What neuro- difference means (and why they do not use the term 'divergent') - Hardware- it is NOT PARTS - Asking about and being aware of Neuro- Culture - Goal 1: Use curiosity with Neurodifferent clients around their sensory, learning, and internal system needs. - Goal 2: Access Self-energy to navigate a client’s need for safety if microaggressions occur. - Goal 3: Explore therapist’s individual, legacy, and cultural burdens related to implicit bias, judgment, and stereotypes against Neurodifferent individuals. - Goal 4: Creatively implement IFS mapping exercises with Neurodifferent clients to flesh out Neurodifferent traits vs. client parts Find out more about Meg and Candice here: Namasté Center For Healing (namasteadvice.com) Enjoy! ---- Follow Tammy on Instagram @ifstammy here Tammy Sollenberger (@ifs.tammy) • Instagram photos and videos and on Facebook at The One Inside with Tammy Sollenberger here The One Inside: Internal Family Systems with Tammy Sollenberger | Facebook. ----- Are you new to IFS or want a simple way to get to know yourself?
