Ohm my God...
I first came across One Taste through what I now recognise as a thinly disguised satire in the chick lit book The Roxy Letters, never realising for a moment it was based on a real life movement... So imagine my surprise when I discovered the reality behind the satire and the more I listened the more I realised just how much truth really is stranger than fiction! Bu turns strange, sad, funny and disturbing, this podcast series is an exploration of human sexuality, vulnerability, gullibility and exploitability on the part of those looking to make money and exercise power and those seeking and yearning for some kind of healing and connection. It’s pretty explicit in parts, so be warned but kudos too to the reporter and team behind it for their sensitivity and empathetic approach to this topic and to those brave enough to have come forward to share their stories in the movement and the damaging legacy it has left. Hopefully they have learned from their experience, can recover from it and further talk about what happened so that others don’t fall for the predators and sharks who swim in the shallows of genuine meditative practice and benefits.
