The host really ruins this podcast out of the gate. She constantly inserts herself into the narrative in ways that are disruptive while adding nothing. This one of those docs you dislike everyone involved. The cult leaders are opportunistic narcissists and the followers are deeply cognitively...Read full review »

Fascinating story. Hope I can find it covered elsewhere. This was a total top level nothing burger.

This is a really interesting story and I feel like there was a lot more of it to be told. Episodes were too short, meaning they never got as in depth as they could’ve. It felt like the most basic facts of the story were just laid out and repeated rather than exploring them fully. It feels like...Read full review »

Brilliant and layered exposé. A very important to hear how covering the story was impacting the reporter. I hope BBC has given her the support also to heal from this job. Well done!

Quite shocking to hear about the so called sexual enlightenment within this movement. On the other hand, because of the prudishness of sexual development and education in American culture, it doesn’t really surprise me that this type of cult or movement finds it origin in America. What i miss in...Read full review »

I'd love to know where on the payroll or orgasm commune flow chart the negative reviewers fall, bc it's just a tad obvious. This podcast is great and I hope Tasty Nation (you can copyright that one) gets taken down.Read full review »

I wish there were more podcasts like this, that investigate modern “wellness” cults that are active right now (vs morbidly rehashing 70’s cults over and over). You know it’s a good podcast when the subject sues to get it removed. I’m glad they lost and The Orgasm Cult is available again.

The story is great, but it’s a painful listen. The reporter doesn’t seem to get that when listening to a podcast you have your earphones on, often at home, or jogging, or about to sleep. You want a voice that blends in, that is soothing. Gentle, if you may. Instead, you get that projected loud...Read full review »

How bored people can be convinced they are saving the world one orgasm at a time whilst voluntarily enslaving themselves and go broke. A sad, cautionary tale.

A great show with a truly fantastic insight into Onetaste. I was aware of them before, and knew they were really sketchy, but was totally unaware of how messed up things were behind the scenes. I actually knew someone who had taken their classes, and even before listening, had been worried about...Read full review »

This is more an educational documentary than a story about a cult. More about sex and self help than a story or docudrama. There were some interesting parts where things were mentioned or people in the cult were interviewed, but….then it was quickly back to the informative and educational...Read full review »

For the context, I just listened through the first episode. One thing I particularly don't understand is that how could the host ask about the woman's feeling after OM like she has never experienced orgasm before or has any clue on it would feel.Read full review »

People are so obnoxious. This is a fascinating podcast, well-researched and well-reported. It’s not liberal hysteria to be concerned about the welfare of vulnerable people. That’s called empathy. Also, to that one reviewer (eye roll), disorientating is a word - chiefly British. Just be calm.
jobee88 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/13/22
Reveals more about the fears and closeted sexual conservatism of upper class liberals than it does about any exploitative practices of One Taste. Promises Orgasms but is utterly dry. Promises Cults but is just lonely nerds. Embarrassingly amateur host (disorientating isn’t a word lol)...Read full review »

This is an absolutely excellent podcast. Every five star glowing review as well deserved. I was surprised when I saw that a one star review could even exist for this nearly perfect piece of media. This shined a light on all the things I suspected about this group which I now realize is a cult. Orgasm Cult makes a major contribution to the debunking of the Wellness obsession that has besotted so many people in search of an alternate realty to describe their ‘unique’ maladies, both physical and psychical. Brilliantly paced, expertly narrated. High recommendation.

Host did an excellent job researching and reporting this story. Everything I know of firsthand is reported with complete accuracy. The rest I can easily picture as being completely true. Fine journalism around a subject that brings up a lot of strong reactions and emotions in most people.

Really enjoying the story here, both about One Taste and the wider exploration of wellness and women’s health - but feel like they should be two separate podcasts! She has linked women’s health, wellness, misogyny, gas lighting, cult like behaviour all in one interesting narrative. Interesting how I only seem to see comments about voices when women front a podcast. FYI interesting is feminist speak for terrible misogyny (come at me bruh)

Get over yourselves, her voice isn’t that bad! Interesting content and fascinating enough to cope with a bit of a shouty presenter. Just turn your volume down. 😁

Great podcast - just a shame it’s the classic British accent turned US and like the other reviews say - it’s all a bit too shouty. If only the narrator would reset to her natural style as she does with the characters and not be in character as newsreader.
alwaysamarlee via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/03/21
Interesting subject but so shouty it’s uncomfortable to listen to. The narrator has a lovely voice when interviewing but the voice over is not great. Also wish they would reduce the repetition at the beginning and end of each episode.
kittybizz via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/03/21
This could be such an interesting documentary series on a very engaging topic, however, the narrator makes it unbearable to listen to. She just shouts in a monotone voice.

Interesting subject matter, but I couldn’t get past the voice of the presenter. Very loud and pompous. Had to give it up after one episode
spongey6 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/01/21
This podcast mainly repeats Ellen Huet’s excellent work, but if it causes anyone to stop and ask more questions before handing over money to a con artistic, then it will have done a great service. Rather than OM, you could simply call it an old-fashioned circle jerk, swaddled in new age cliches.

Great documentary, who doesn’t love a cult story? It is slightly hard to listen to though because the narrator has a lovely voice but her delivery is a bit shouty/one gear. Not the easiest to listen to.

I just learned about One Taste on this podcast. We need these stories to be able to discern between everything that is offered in the wellness space.

The wellness buisness is a scam. I mean what is this saying, that in order to treat women’s mental health you have to give ten an orgasim, how sexist. women and men fall for this because you feel your doing good, then before you know it your vagina is branded. If you want to do wellness and if...Read full review »
