Love the way Nihal interviews authors in a relaxed manner. A natural conversation forms and he gives the time to his interviewee to form and express their thoghts calmly. Their talks are very comforting and pleasant. I enjoy the other interviewer talks as well except that she keeps trying to find...Read full review »

The rare podcast where it genuinely feels like a conversation rather than an interview.

An incredibly insightful, wonderfully intelligent, generously spirited podcast. Every episode a gem. So immensely grateful.

Living in a small community on the rocky shore of the BC coast, it is a delight to see a new episode of Penguin arrive. A valuable connection to interesting interviews. Thank you.

This is the best of the best for anyone who loves reading or really just loves life. The quality of the questions puts most interviews with writers in the shade. Widens my world to understand the lives of people whose lives have been so different to my own.

Interesting but questionable if instilling such devisive attitudes into any young people joining school/uni/society is helpful anymore - build a future together not one apart - it only sets us up for more hate and terrible history rewriting itself

While there's a modicum of interesting facts and perspectives, this is nothing deep. There is nothing worthwhile in first 3 minutes, a history of Mormonism, and a few problems with believing and varied religions, but mostly nattering with little holding it together.Read full review »

It’s the best book podcast I’ve come across that balances finding a range of great authors from all over the shop - but with an entertaining, well researched presenter who is genuinely interested! Nihal Arthanayake is great!

It’s so wonderful to hear authors talk about their work , writing process and lives. The interviewer is enthusiastic and intelligent and genuinely interested.

Brilliant authors. Dopey hosts and average questions. Why bring props to a podcast?

I am not sure how I found this podcast but it is certainly helping my brain in this uncertain time of Covid. This podcast is pure joy! I especially like the presenter Nihal Arthanayake with his genuine love of the subjects, warm voice and humour. I am Canadian and we do not get the rich array...Read full review »

Always good to hear Elvis play, let alone speak about his book. Locked down from Coronavirus and disappointed his concert was cancelled at the Wales Millennium this March. Looking forward to it being rescheduled. For now I shall enjoy this. Love this interview with Richard E. Grant

I have told everyone I know about this show. It keeps my reading list current, and gives me insights into the books that I wouldn't have without listening to the podcast. Plus, almost every book I've read from the list of episodes has been wonderful!! Thank you.Read full review »

Richard E Grant is by far my favourite interviewer. His voice is soothing and subtle and he allows the interviewee to be the star and doesn’t dominate. Just lovely

Konnie is a great host and keeps the interviews bouncing along, but the use of audiobook doesn't feel like filler or a pr puff like in other book based podcasts. Feels like proper stand alone content.Read full review »

Although essentially an advert for new Penguin books, the manner in which Withail conducts the advert is very disarming and makes for a great Podcast. Relaxed, intelligent questions and sometimes humourous. All good.

A really interesting podcast. Lots of great insight into how books come to life and plenty of interviews with authors, actors, athletes, editors etc. Like the way each episode is themed too with extracts from audiobooks that fit into the theme of the show. Great stuff, keep it up!

We should expect better from one on the world's biggest publishers. Very poor and shallow. The music is too 80's funky (music is unnecessary) and they need to step up with the quality of interviews. Penguin obviously sees the podcast medium as a marketing tool but doesn't know what...Read full review »

I listened to the first 3 episodes on podast. I really enjoyed the first one. It was well read, and I thought it had promise. By the time I'd got to the third one I had all sorts of questions to ask. Why was the name of the author not given? Why the rather sadistic attidude to women? Why the...Read full review »

I love The Penguin Podcast. It takes book reading to the next level. I like hearing what the writing process is like from the author's mouth. There are also tidbits of info you won't find in the books. The books and authors are really varied which is nice, because it means I get to hear...Read full review »

I loved the idea of the Penguin Podcast, but I've ended my subscription. Why? The quality was so uneven. Anything which helps to illuminate the written word must be applauded. How Mr. Dickens would have liked the idea of people downloading his thoughts and then carrying them around in little boxes! I've always loved A Christmas Carol and I like Geoffrey Palmer, so it was nice for the two to be combined here. Geoffrey Palmer reads this book excellently; his vocal flexbility is much greater than I'd expected, having seen him mainly in his long-suffering sitcom roles, and he...Read full review »
