“It is a testament to both the source material and the guys running this podcast that it is so lively. Anyone who ever thought Tolkien's works—especially The Silmarillion—were intriguing but difficult would do well to give this podcast a listen. You can jump in anywhere, though starting from the beginning for proper stage-setting is encouraged. It also seems open-ended, and given what they profess to cover in due time, I know I can drop this one in my Quiver of Excellent Ongoing Podcasts +3 for potentially years to come. I think about Middle-earth every day in some capacity, even when I'm not actively reading something exploring it, and Alan and Shawn help keep me in that headspace. And as many others have written here, they bring good humor to it. Sometimes in true fandom you HAVE to poke some fun at the things you love, too, and they do so with equal parts levity and admiration.
This podcast also gets huge points for its Rush references. Just saying.”Read full review »
