Just ok
A decently told story about a complicated person. I think I’d be more interested in the story of George Bliss, or Eugene Pincham. The kidnapping and possible murder that you’re constantly reminded of throughout the podcast builds to a pitiful anticlimax in my opinion, considering their use as a tool to hype this story to such a degree.

This pod is such an interesting mix: it’s both about the criminal justice system *and* an incredibly smart true crime podcast. The host is thoughtful and clearly a fantastic reporter. Excited about this one and can’t wait to hear more.

I was really intrigued by the subject. I was not aware that the welfare queen archetype was based on a real person and how far that archetype skewed from reality. I wanted to hear an in depth report. Well told, researched and produced. A great take on how distortion of facts used by a charismatic bullshitter(Ron Reagan) led to the still unwarranted attack on impoverished people and the social systems designed to help them.
