Interesting topic but left me wanting more
I was really intrigued by the subject. I was not aware that the welfare queen archetype was based on a real person and how far that archetype skewed from reality. I wanted to hear an in depth report. I understand that this podcast is a companion to a book, but I felt like for every episode half of the duration was a commercial to remind you that there is a book. The next large portion was consumed by advertising for both the patreon and other products. The actual story seemed to play second fiddle and only purpose was to whet the appetite for further reading.

The interviews, the story-telling, the pace of each episode of this podcast are consistently excellent. I never thought I was interested in sportscasting, but the Mary Shane story hooked me. I’m looking forward to the next episode.
